We believe Sentience will fundamentally reshape how people interact with AI. That conviction is exactly why we think about safety and the protection of your data more seriously than most. Users are handing us something deeply personal, and we have a fundamental responsibility to secure and protect it.

Data encryption and privacy.

AES-256 + TLS encryption

Your data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit via TLS. Our production systems sit behind hardened network boundaries, and traffic is filtered at the edge before it reaches anything internal. Access to sensitive systems is tightly gated.

Screen capture is filtered on your device.

On-device pass

When Sentience captures your screen, it runs through a local filter on your device first—password managers and private browser windows are blocked from ever leaving your machine, and you can exclude any other app (your bank, your health portal, anything) with one click. Only what clears the filter is encrypted and sent on.

You own your digital self.

Ownership

Everything you bring into Sentience stays yours. We claim no ownership over your digital self. It is used to make Sentience better for you. Our Terms of Service are structured so your Sentience is legally treated as your property. If anything ever happened to us, you wouldn't lose what you've built.

Your digital self is always private and secure.

You control what's connected.

You choose what information your Sentience receives. When your assistant drafts an email, a document, or a message for you, it asks for your approval before anything is sent. If you turn on a shared persona—like letting your Sentience answer for you in Slack—it replies on your behalf; that is a feature you choose to enable and can turn off anytime.

Delete anything, anytime.

You can easily delete memories, threads, or connectors, which removes the related data from our active systems right away; residual copies in encrypted backups roll off shortly after. You can also delete your Sentience in Settings if you ever want a clean slate.

What does Sentience actually capture?

Your Sentience learns about your life in several ways. It connects to your tools like Gmail, Calendar, iMessage, and Slack and also ingests your past history, so years of messages and context are saved to your digital context layer. Your Sentience can also capture audio recording (like meetings and conversations) and passive screen context to learn more about how you work and what you care about.

The AI providers we use are contractually barred from keeping, logging, or training on your data. And your content is processed by automated systems—people at Sentience don't read your data in operating the service. The only exception is valid legal process, like a warrant or court order.

You own your Sentience. You can delete any memory, disconnect a source, or wipe your account whenever you want.

Can Sentience see my passwords or sensitive info on my screen?

Your Sentience runs a local filter on your device that blocks password managers and private browser windows before anything leaves your machine, and scrubs patterns like card numbers and SSNs from captured text. The system is designed to never surface, share, or acknowledge credentials.

Everyday context, like names or personal details, is protected by our in-transit and at-rest encryption, zero-retention agreements with our model providers, and strict limits on human access to your data. If you're still worried about exposing something in a non-blocked app (say, an SSN in an open document), you can always exclude an application from capture or pause it altogether.

Does my data train AI models?

Yes—your data is used to train only a model of your mind. Everything Sentience learns goes into building your digital self, and that model belongs entirely to you.

The AI providers we use are contractually barred from training on, keeping, or logging your data, and nothing you share becomes part of a dataset that serves anyone else. The only model your data is used to create is yours.

How is this different from ChatGPT or Claude?

Even though it holds the context of your digital life, your Sentience is built to be more private than a general-purpose chatbot. Your data is stored only to serve you: we have zero-data-retention agreements with our AI model providers, so your content is not retained by them or used to train models that serve anyone else.

Who owns my data, and what if you get acquired?

Your data is yours. Our Terms of Service are structured so your Sentience is legally treated as your property, and you can delete it whenever you want. If we were ever acquired or shut down, our Terms require that your ownership survives and that you get a chance to take your data with you.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete your account in Settings. You are also able to delete specific memories, threads, or connectors, which removes the related data from our active systems.
